Walter D. Monteleone, age 90 of Perry, NY passed away on Tuesday December 3, 2024 at Suzanne’s Comfort Care Home in Perry surrounded by his family.

He was born on October 6,1934 in Perry, NY a son to the late Thomas and Gladys (Hetzel) Monteleone.

Walt was a graduate of Perry Central High School. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

He worked in the construction business from 1960-1970 for Werner-Spitz Construction in Rochester and moved onto being a carpentry instructor for the New York State School for Boys commonly called “Industry” in Rush, NY retiring in 1989.

Walter was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Parish (St. Joseph’s Church), Perry VFW, Silver Lake Sportsmen’s Club and the former Perry Moose Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, loved a good laugh and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

He is survived by 2 daughters: Michelle (Jeff) Osman of Kennedy, NY, Jill (Jon) Sheffield of Perry, daughter-in-law: Cindy Monteleone of Batavia, sister: Delores “Dot” Gell of Perry, 11 grandchildren along with many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy “Dot” (Snow) Monteleone who passed away in 2017, daughter and son-in-law: Cheryl (Ronald) Ozzimo who passed away in 2011, son: Walter who passed away in 2020 and siblings: Anne Mummery, Thomas, John and Ronald Monteleone.

Family and friends may call from 4-7pm on Tuesday December10th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home 98 North Main St in Perry.

A graveside service and celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2025.

Walter will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry, New York.
