Theresa H. Swider

Theresa H. Swider, age 92 of West Harwich, MA, formerly of Perry and Canandaigua,
NY passed away on Saturday January 23, 2021 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA.
She was born on August 31, 1928 in Perry, NY, daughter of the late Sylvester and
Helen (Walega) Starczewski.
Terri was a graduate of Perry Central High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in
Education from SUNY Oswego. She taught cosmetology at the Genesee Valley
BOCES in Mt. Morris. She was a member of St. Isidore’s R.C. Church in Perry
(formerly St. Stanislaus Kostka), Holy Trinity R.C. Church, and the Holy Trinity Women’s
Guild in West Harwich. She was also a member of the American Hairdressers
Association.
She enjoyed music and singing, gardening, cooking, nature, and searching for sea
glass along the seashore. She was always ready to play a game of scrabble or cards.
She adored her family, especially her grandchildren.
Theresa is survived by her children: Sylvia (John) Hanlon of Canandaigua, NY, and
Gary (Judy) Swider of Middlesex, NY, three grandchildren: Colin Swider, Kieran
(Elizabeth) Hanlon, and Jessen Swider (Nicholas Abbott), nephew Daniel (Lorraine)
Rybak, along with several other nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her
parents, her husband Zygmund A. Swider, who passed away in 2013, a daughter Sally
Ann Swider who passed in 1957 and siblings Lillian Krawczyk, Richard and Daniel
Starczewski.
A Memorial Mass will be announced at a later date. Terri will be laid to rest in St.
Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery in Perry. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Harwich Conservation Trust, and Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands.
