Richard W. "Dick" Scharet Sr.

Richard W. “Dick” Scharet Sr., 73 of Castile passed away on Tuesday August 21, 2018 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris where he had been residing. Richard was born in Rochester, NY on May 8, 1945 a son of the late Wyburn P. “Butch” and Josephine (Baker) Scharet.

He worked for Delphi in Rochester for over 30 years in the power house retiring in 2005. Dick also owned his own excavating company, Silver Lake Excavating. He was well known around Silver Lake for his many jobs digging foundations, leveling properties and moving almost anything. In later years he ran a business taking docks and lifts in and out around Silver Lake. He loved to work with his Bob Cat, being creative and helping anyone that needed his expertise. He was a 50 years member of the Moose and a devoted member the OOBTA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.

He is survived by his wife: Linda (Zupko) Connelly-Scharet; children Roxanne Joose of Geneseo, Robert (Heather) Scharet of E. Bloomfield; a daughter-in-law Elizabeth Scharet of Castile; sister-in-law Bonnie Wass; 2 step-daughters Casey Wolcott (Jason) of Silver Springs, Carey Cartwright (Keegan) of Perry; 2 step-sons David (Michelle) Connelly of Warsaw, Daniel (Tina) Connelly of Gibsonton, FL; 16 grandchildren Amanda (Frank) Rivera, Alexandra and Jessica Scharet, Brionna Joose, Tara Pederson, Annie Brown, Kensie and Taylor Connelly, Jayden, Jordyn and Jennah Wolcott, Peyton and Parker Cartwright; Jon and David Connelly, 2 great-grandchildren Asa Rivera and Nicole Brown, his dog: Sophie, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Randal who died in 2007; a son Richard Scharet Jr.; sister Alberta Mietus; brother Thomas Scharet and granddaughter Madeline Connelly.

Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Tuesday August 28, 2018 at Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main Street Perry, NY 14530. He will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
