Merville J. Button, 92 of Perry, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 13, 2019 at his home.
He was born in Middlesex, New York on February 25, 1926 a son to the late Leslie J. and Esther (Clark) Button.
He was a graduate of Rushville High School and Cornell University.
Merv was a extension agent for the Wyoming and Erie Cooperative Extension where he retired in July 1991.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry, the Castile Historical Society, New York State Ag Society and the former Kitchen Konference. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, reading and traveling.
He is survived by his wife Martha W. (Wilbur) Button whom he married on May 5, 1956, a daughter: Amy S. Button of Long Island City, NY, 3 sons: Leslie J. (Laura) Button of Big Flats, Donald C. (Malena) Button of San Francisco , Steven D. Button of Syracuse, a brother: Warren (Patricia) Button of Cortlandt Manor, NY, 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, along with many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a grandson: Peter S. Boese and siblings: Nettie Benedict and Alvin Button.
Family and friends may call from 10am-12 pm on Saturday January 19th at the First United Methodist Church 35 Covington St. in Perry where services will follow at 12pm.
He will be laid to rest in West Perry Cemetery in Perry.
