Melania R. Humphrey, age 81, of Perry, passed away on Monday February 17, 2025 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
She was born in Warsaw, New York on August 9, 1943, a daughter to the late Lewis and Stephania (Smoter) Rozanski.
Melly was a graduate of Perry Central High School and received her Master’s degree in Education from SUNY Geneseo.
She was a Special Education Teacher at Dansville High School and was in charge of the afterschool daycare program at Perry Elementary School for 11 years. She taught wallpapering, upholstery and painting at the Livingston Wyoming BOCES, and was a private tutor for many children in the area.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Church, former member of the Jr. Grange and Grange, former 4-H leader, and volunteer for the Community Clothes Closet in Perry. Melly enjoyed sewing, refinishing furniture, upholstery work, wallpapering, painting, drywalling and western square dancing. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: Elbert whom she married on June 18, 1966, daughter: Antoinette (Steve) Morrison of Dallas, PA., son: Luke (Catherine) Humphrey of East Aurora, sister: Irene (Bill) Schofield of Perry, brother: Louis (Betsy) Rozanski of East Aurora, 5 grandchildren: Nicholas (Tara) Morrison, Michael (Jennifer) Morrison, Monica Morrison, Cyrus and Bethany Humphrey, great granddaughter: Amira Morrison, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends may call from 4-7pm on Friday March 7th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home 98 N. Main St. in Perry.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday March 8th at 11:30 am at St. Michael’s Church 171 N. Main St. in Warsaw.
Melly will be laid to rest in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery in Perry.
