Martha W. Button, age 92, of Perry, passed away on Friday March 17, 2023 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Easton, NY on August 29, 1930, a daughter to the late Claude C. and Amy Biggart Wilbur.
Martha was a graduate of Waterville Central School and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from SUNY Oswego in 1953. She was an elementary teacher for the Sodus, Dryden and Letchworth Central School Districts, retiring in 1995.
Martha was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry where she was the organist for many years. An avid gardener, she was a member of the Perry Garden Club and enjoyed working in the community gardens throughout the Village of Perry as well as in her own lush and beautiful gardens. Martha loved music passionately, especially opera, and enjoyed attending Eastman School of Music performances. She inspired the love of music in many people around her. She volunteered at the Wyoming County Community Hospital and drove many people to their doctor appointments.
She is survived by her daughter: Amy (John Sabini) Button of Schenectady, NY, 3 sons: Leslie J. (Laura) Button of Big Flats, NY, Donald C. (Maria “Malena” Fuentes) Button of San Francisco, CA., Steven D. (Donna Dallal-Ferne) Button ofSyracuse,10 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Along with her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her husband: Merville Button who passed away in 2019, grandson: Peter S. Boese who passed away in2008, brothers: Max Elwin Wilbur who passed away in 1942, Clarence A. Wilbur who passed away in 1998, and David E. Wilbur who passed away in 2014.
Family and friends may call from 4-6pm on Friday March 24th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC, 98 North Main St in Perry. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 25th at 2pm at the First United Methodist Church 35 Covington St. in Perry.
Martha will be laid to rest in the West Perry Cemetery in Perry.
