Marion E. (Gaffney) Sturm, 90 of Warsaw, passed away on Saturday May 25, 2019 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her family.
She was born in St. Albans, NY on May 15, 1929 a daughter to the late Francis and Eleanor (McMahon) Gaffney.
Marion was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, reading , baking and painting. As a young lady she worked at the Telephone Company in New York City A chance encounter with a young man at a local pizza parlor was the beginning of what would be a story book romance. It was that evening she met Raymond, the man she married on July 23, 1950. Together they raised six children, Raymond (Lorraine) Sturm, Lawrence Sturm, James Sturm, Christopher (Tracy) Sturm, Mary Syberg and Kate (Jonathan) Rose. She was a faithful woman and rarely missed Saturday Evening Mass at St Michaels in Warsaw. She volunteered at the parish whenever she was asked and had a special relationship with the Blessed Mother.
In addition to her six children she is survived a brother: Richard (Libby) Gaffney of PA., 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband: Raymond Howard Sturm who passed away on November 9, 2007 and her brother Frank and sister in law
Lois.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday May 29, 2019 at St. Michael’s Church in Warsaw at 11:00 am.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Perry.
