Kenneth J. Lakin Jr.

Kenneth J. Lakin Jr., age 83 of Perry passed away on Sunday July 10, 2016 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. Kenneth was born in Warsaw, New York on January 19, 1933 a son of the late Kenneth J. and Helen (Yencer) Lakin Sr. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Kathryn “Kay” (Wilcox) Lakin whom he married on August 12, 1950 she passed away on August 25, 2004; a son Randy Lakin who passed away on July 11, 2004; a daughter Kathy Wright who passed away on November 14, 2013; granddaughter Gina Ashcraft who died on April 15, 2001 and a brother Jack Lakin.

Kenneth retired from the Retsof Salt Mine in 1996 after 30 years of employment as a master mechanic. He was a former and founding member of the Perry Emergency Ambulance, an officer for the International Brothers of Mine Workers Association and was involved in the search and rescue at Retsof Salt Mine. He enjoyed camping, fishing, going to beaches, swimming, golfing and roller skating when he was younger. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by 2 daughters; Sandra (Bruce) Kelly, Linda (Peter) LeBlond both of Perry; a son Kevin (Pamela) Lakin of Winchester, VA.; a sister June (Bob) Stuerbezecher of Cortland, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 2:00-3:00PM on Saturday July 16, 2016 at Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main Street Perry, New York 14530. A 3:00PM Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation at the Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Perry.
