Hilda Louise (Behr) Gantress, 88, passed away June 11, 2024, in Granbury, Texas, days after suffering a stroke.
Hilda was born in Buffalo, New York, on May 24, 1936, to Frank L. and Hilda R. (Jonczyk) Behr. She was the oldest of seven children.
She graduated from the Girls Vocational High School in June 1953.
She married Kenneth William Gantress on May 28, 1966. She and Ken lived in NY, VA, and FL. She moved to TX in 2021.
Hilda enjoyed traveling when she was younger; she was always up for an adventure. She was very regimented. She actually enjoyed housework and yard work and took great pride in helping to keep her neighborhood neat and clean. She was a faithful Christian and found solace in The Lord.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Frank R. Behr; her husband; and her sister, Rebecca Prince.
She is survived by her sisters Carol (Steven) Mancini, Katherine Gildner, Nancy Beagle, Jeanette Blythe, nieces, and nephews and their families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 9th at 10:00am at St. Isidore Catholic Community (St. Joseph’s Church) in Perry.
Hilda and her late husband Kenneth will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Perry.
