Herbert G. Gross

Herbert G. Gross, age 72, of Perry, NY passed away on Saturday May 14, 2022 at his home in Perry.
He was born on September 7, 1949 in Watertown, NY, a son of the late Alton and Vida (Dunkleman) Gross.
Herb was a crane operator/engineer for the former Hudson Steel in Rochester for 32 years. He was associated with the Rochester Engineer’s Union Local #832 for over 50 years.
He enjoyed working in his garage building muscle cars and working on various types of engines. He enjoyed an occasional Cream Ale, a beer none of his friends or family drink because of the taste and the end results. He was a “family man” spending as much time with them all.
He is survived by his wife Sue A. (Foster) Gross whom he married on July 14, 1979, 5 children: Shannon Gross of Honeoye Falls, Brandon (Kristie) Gross of Webster, Becky (Chad) Proper of Silver Springs, Kirk (Courtney) Gross Sr. of Perry, Jennifer Vida (Steve) Arbo of Perry, mother-in-law: Jane Foster of Rochester, sister: Joyce Hooker of Scottsville, sister-in-law: Kathy Gross of Rochester, 9 grandchildren: Myles and Austun Gross, Sabrina (Dylan) Backus, Brooke Proper, Alex, Jakob and Kirk Gross Jr., Wyatt and Maverick Arbo, 5 great grandchildren Braylee Backus, Alerick, Lucious, Enslee and Hadley Gross, along with several nieces, nephews and friends.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by siblings: Jack Gross, Bonita Marie Forbes, brother-in-laws: Ed Forbes and Bill Hooker who helped raise Herb after the passing of his father.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Tuesday May 17th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Herb will be laid to rest in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Perry.
