Genevieve M. Matacz, age 92, of Perry, NY, passed away on Saturday October 28, 2017 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
Genevieve was born in Buffalo, NY on January 29, 1925 a daughter to the late Anthony and Laura (Bartel) Szablewski.
She graduated from Edward J. Meyer School of Nursing in Buffalo as a registered nurse.
Genevieve worked for Curtis Aircraft in Buffalo in her teens (Girls referred as Rosey the Riveter) after college she worked at the former Tuberculosis Hospital in Mt. Morris until its closing and retired from J.N. White Designs in Perry in 2003 where she was a quality control inspector.
She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Perry where she was a former church school teacher and the former Dom Polski Polish American Social Club in Perry where she helped in many of their functions and activities. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing solitaire, doing word search puzzles, traveling and reading.
She is survived by her 2 sons: Michael G. Matacz of Kapolei, HI, Stephen A. Matacz of Perry, a sister: Reggie and Bill Johnson of Buffalo, along with many nieces, nephews.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by a step-mother: Josephine Szablewski, her husband: Stephen J. Matacz who passed away in 1985, 5 siblings: Mary Rusin, Joseph, Walter and Ted Szablewski and Chester Sable.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Thursday November 2nd at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry.
Funeral services will be held on Friday November 3rd at 11:00am at the funeral home.
She will be laid to rest in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery in Perry.
