Gary W. Appleby, age 71, of Perry passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Home in Warsaw.
Gary was born in Lewistown, PA on July 1, 1946 a son of the late Gerald V. and Jean (Detweiler) Appleby.
Gary was a graduate of Lewistown High School and Williamsport Area Community College where he studied Electronics Technology.
Gary worked as a electronics technician for General Dynamic in Rochester and Eastman Kodak in Rochester for 15 years. Gary attended Elohim Bible Institute in Castile, preparing for his ordination and appointment to serve in West Germany. In 1983 Gary and family went to serve the Lord in Germany with Global Outreach Missions and after 7 years returned back Perry. Gary finished his career at Morton Salt Co. in Silver Springs retiring early after 15 years do to his diagnosis of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Gary was blessed to receive a single right lung transplant on March 27, 2009 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
Gary was a member of the Baptist Church of Perry. He enjoyed reading, fishing and woodworking and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Susan E. (Reber) Appleby, a son: Michael J. Appleby of Perry, brother: Jeffrey (Joyce) Appleby of Kutztown, PA., 3 granddaughters: Makayla, Madalyn and Maleena Stickley along with many dear friends nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter: Amy E. Appleby who died on March 27, 2018 and a sister: Donna Ciecierski.
A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held on Saturday July 7th at 11:00 A.M. at the Baptist Church of Perry N. Main St. in Perry.
