Frederick G. "Red" Kelly Jr.

Frederick G. “Red” Kelly Jr., 87 of Perry, passed away on Thursday April 5, 2018 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.
He was born in Warsaw, NY on February 10,1931 a son to the late Frederick G. and Bertha (Mandeville) Kelly Sr.
Red was a graduate of Perry High School and after graduation enlisted with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He returned back to Perry in 1954 after the service and worked as a carpenter for Bill Burt for 5 years, moving onto the Town of Perry where he was a truck driver for 7 years and later retired from BR DeWitt in Pavilion where he worked for 21 years.
He was a member of the Perry Center First Congregational Church in Perry Center since the age of 8, a member of the Perry VFW Post 5009 where he was an active member in the firing squad, life member Perry Center Fire Department, , life member of the Perry and Wyoming County Vets Clubs and the Silver Lake Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by a daughter: Linda Rhode of Titusville, Fl., 2 sons: Jeffrey Kelly of Leicester, Todd Kelly of Sarasota, Fl., 3 stepchildren: Judith Birchenough of Beaufort, SC., Sandra (Fay) Unamann of Avon and Robert (Bobby Massengal) Unamann of Ridgeland, SC., 6 grandchildren, several step grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife: Faye Jane Frances Kelly who passed away in 2014 and a brother Keith Kelly.
A Celebration of Red’s Life will be held on Saturday April 14th at 1:00pm at the Perry VFW Post 5009 on 20 Washington Blvd. in Perry.
He will be laid to rest in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Perry Center.
