Ethel F. Alquist, age 95, of Warsaw, formerly of Greece, NY, died peacefully on Thursday November 10, 2016 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw where she had been residing.
Ethel was born in West Chester County, Pennsylvania on January 1, 1921 a daughter to the late Roy and Susan (Hamilton) Jones.
Ethel was a 1939 graduate of Kennett Square Consolidated School in Pennsylvania. She worked many years in food service working for Stewart Sandwiches and later retired from Strong Memorial Hospital where she was a supervisor in the housekeeping department. After retirement she went back to work at Parkridge Chemical Dependency receiving the employee of the year award in 1985.
A lover of animals, Ethel provided a loving home to many animals throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking, collecting antiques, loved to entertain, putting on many birthday and holiday celebrations and enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by a daughter: Diane (Timothy) McCallum of Perry, a son: Ronald (Carole) Grady of St. George, UT, 4 grandchildren: Gigi (Joseph) Smith of NC, Sean (Jennifer ) Grady of WV, Michael (Brandy) McCallum of MO, and Mindy (Steve) Ussrey of Cheektowaga, 3 great grandsons and 3 great granddaughters also survive.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her companion of 30 years: Warren Fremow who passed away in 2001, 3 former husbands: Albert Grady, William Crombe and John Alquist, and a son: Barry Crombe.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
She will be laid to rest in White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford.
