Ellen Elizabeth "Ellie" Batchelor, age 68 of Perry, died on Saturday July 19, 2014 at her home after a battle with Acute Myloid Leukemia.
She was born in Batavia, NY on March 7, 1946 a daughter of Ellen B. (Milcarek) Meier of Alexander and the late Allen F. Meier.
Ellie graduated from Alexander Central School “Class of 1964”. After graduation she was employed at Sylvania Mnfg., The Genesee Co. Auto Bureau, Genesee Community College, and later became an independent mobile Disc-jockey for nearly 25 yrs., while dee-jaying, she went into private housekeeping for 15 yrs.
She had a great great love for all animals, especially cats, leaving behind 7 housecats, Amanda-Jean, Slippers, Puddin-Puss, Cuckoo, Mischief “Chief”, Cricket and Little Beans “Beano”. You could always find her feeding the “strays”. Ellie was an exceptional cook and baker. She could always be found sharing her large “bounty”. It could be 100 degrees on a sultry summer day, but Ellie was usually found baking or cooking something in her kitchen. She was noted for her homemade lemon meringue pies, apple crisp, cream cheese brownies, meatballs, beef-on-weck, pizza, German potato salad or Mac and cheese. She had a large love for music of all kinds. Her favorite song in the whole wide world was “Over the Rainbow” sung only by Eva Cassidy or Don Potter. She was an accomplished writer and poet having been published nationally in The Good Old Days and Reminisce magazines. She will be greatly missed by her countless friends at the Lakeville / Livonia Writers’ group.
She is survived by her loving husband and “bestest friend” of 48 years: William “Bill” Batchelor, 2 loving daughters: Laura Yvonne Batchelor of Perry, Amy Lynn (devoted son-in-law: Randy) Greig of Warsaw, 1 granddaughter: the love of her life Kelsey D. Zeches of Warsaw, 3 step-grandchildren Brandi, Kayla, and Nicole Greig, 3 step great grandchildren: Adrienne. Austin and Alec, her mother Ellen B. Meier of Alexander, a sister: Evelyn “Evie” (Tony Nigro) Nichols of Alexander, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her father she is preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Meier.
Ellie had a great spiritual faith. She has donated her body to the University of Rochester Medical School.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 18, 2014 at the Perry Fireman's Building at the Perry Park from 2-6pm a service will be held at 2:30pm.
