Dorothy E. Benz

Dorothy E. Benz, age 102 of Perry, died on Saturday February 15, 2014 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. She was born in Williamson, New York on August 9, 1911 a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Hance Heath.
Dorothy was a self employed hairdresser opening Dot’s Hair Fashion in 1960 and she retired in1998. She was a member of the former Christian Scientist Church in Perry, she was very strong in her faith which passed down through her children and grandchildren and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Perry. She enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, painting, making braided rugs, and gardening.
She is survived by her 6 children: Elizabeth “Bette” Croft of Victor, Barbara (Ronald) Mosher of Warsaw, Margaret “Peggy” Haley of Rochester, Robert (Darlene) Benz of Archer City, TX., Linda (Dan) McGuire of Warsaw, and William Benz of Brockport, a sister: Edna Orlopp of Williamson, 21 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband John O. Benz whom she married in 1932 he died in 1959, and 2 granddaughters Robin and Charmaine Mosher, a brother Ellis Heath who died during WWII, and a sister Margaret Brownell.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Friday February 21st at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry.
Funeral services will be on Saturday Feb 22nd at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pultneyville, New York.
Memorials may be made to the Mary Gooley Hemophilia Center 1415 Portland Ave. Rochester, New York 14621 or to a scholarship fund that will be set up in memory of John and Dorothy Benz given to a graduating Perry Central School senior who will be going into a teaching career.
