Charles H Jackson, born April 30, 1931 in Batavia NY to Charles E and Mildred (Hovis) Jackson passed away peacefully on Thursday February 6th at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing facility surrounded by his family.
He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp being honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.
Charlie enjoyed multiple careers in his lifetime. He worked at GTE Sylvania for 28yrs, was later employed by Sears as a service repair technician, repaired tv’s at the Warsaw Hospital, worked at Valu Home Centers and then enjoyed driving bus for Hilltop until he retired at the age of 85.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman frequently going to Lake Nipissing on fishing trips throughout his lifetime. He always enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with his family. He was still hosting family dinners in his home even after he turned 90. He was not afraid to try new things and began to experiment with baking at age 85. He always kept a stash of candy and chocolate on hand at home. He never had much of that growing up and considered it a real privilege. He always enjoyed entertaining others with stories of his life experiences.
He is predeceased by his parents, his older sister Marie (Russell) Nevinger and his wife of 60 years Eleanor Mess Jackson who was the love of his life. He is also predeceased by his two brother-in-laws Russell Nevinger and Karl Grohs.
He is survived by his 3 children, Elizabeth (Timothy) Page, Sharon (Duane) Beardsley and Jeffrey (Kim) Jackson, 4 granddaughters, 2 step grandsons, 1 step granddaughter, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, his younger sister Gloria Grohs and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 11am-12pm on Tuesday February 18th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home 98 N. Main St., where funeral services will follow at 12pm.
Charlie will be laid to rest in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Perry Center.
Donations may be made to the First Unted Methodist Church of Perry 35 Covington St. Perry New York 14530 where Charles was a lifelong member.
