Charles Rodney "Rod" Eaton

Charles Rodney ”Rod” Eaton, age 87 of Silver Lake, NY passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at his home.

He was born on February 27,1937 in Rochester, NY a son to the late Stanley Eugene and Elizabeth (Hellen) Eaton.

Rod was a 1955 graduate of Perry Central High School and 1959 graduate of Bucknell University in Pennsylvania where he received in Bachelor’s degree in Business. After graduation he was drafted in the US Army where he served 3 years.

Rod was an insurance agent working many years for Traveler’s Insurance Co and eventually became owner/operator of Hart’s Insurance in Perry for 30 plus years.

He was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church, Perry Rotary Club where he was a past President and received the Paul Harris award through Rotary, Silver Lake Country Club and the former Silver Lake Yacht Club. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, boating and sailing, wintering in Florida and especially enjoyed times spent with family.

He is survived by his wife Susan (Humphrey) Eaton whom he married on September 20, 1969, daughter: Elizabeth Hellen (Alexander Schwarzkopf) Eaton of London, England, son: Michael (Marcy) Eaton of Perry, 5 grandchildren: Natalie, Elizabeth and Carolie Eaton, Isabel and Charles “George” Schwarzkopf, along with many nieces, nephews and friends survive.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a sister: Shirley Elizabeth Eaton who passed away in 2011.

Family and friends may call from 4-7 pm on Thursday January 16th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral home 98 N. Main St. in Perry.

Rod will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
