Casey Elizabeth (Connelly) Wolcott

Casey Elizabeth (Connelly) Wolcott age 56 of Silver Lake, NY passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones, including her three daughters. Through her 7 year cancer journey, she taught those around her what it looks like to live bravely and maintain an optimistic outlook.

Casey was born March 15th 1968 in Jackson, Michigan to Donald Connelly and Linda Connelly Scharet. She grew up in Depew, NY where she attended St Mary’s Catholic High School. When her family moved to Silver Lake she attended Letchworth High School where she graduated with the class of 1986.

Casey was a stay-at home mom for a great part of her daughters’ lives — “mom” being the best job title she ever had. While her girls were growing up, she worked at Perry Central School in the cafeteria where she was a friendly presence to all the students. She continued work as a dental assistant, and after her metastatic breast cancer diagnosis, she finished her work as a front desk receptionist for Lee Chiropractic in Geneseo, NY. The last three years she got to be “Oma” to her very much loved granddaughter who she enjoyed having “Ellie-Oma” days with.

Spending time with her daughters and her “chicka-butt” Ellie was something she never took for granted and was very intentional about. When she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, she made it her mission to check as many items off her bucket list and she did just that. From swimming with dolphins, to Christmas in NYC, to seeing the Judds live, to visiting Paisley Park in MN, standing in both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, getting an arm sleeve tattoo, to riding thousands of feet in the air in a hot air balloon—Casey truly lived. She was a true inspiration to those around her. She found peace being by the water—whether it be Silver Lake or on the California coast— the sound of waves made her happy. Though she swore she never would, she found a love for bird watching and had several feeders around her cottage that were always full (with the best of the best). When she needed to re-center, you could find her picking weeds or adjusting her garden beds outside—she could not be stopped—her yard always looked welcoming. Casey loved to dance. Casey had an eye for interior decorating as well as being a “fashionista.” If you needed advice on how to dress or what color to paint your house— she was your girl. She loved shopping, had an eye for antiques, and would’ve spoiled Ellie forever if she could.

Casey found the good in terrible situations, had the biggest heart, grew in her faith, and did what she could to care for others. She was a selfless daughter, a mother, an incredible Oma, a protecting sister, a fun Aunt, and a loyal friend that will be missed by many. Casey will forever be a bright, guiding light to her family and loved ones. She provided reassurance to her girls like no other and was always a text or call away—she was their moon.

Casey was preceded in death by her grandparents Donald (Lucille) Connelly and John (Helen) Zupko, her niece Madeline Connelly, her step father Richard “Dick” Scharet, and her beautiful sister Carey Connelly Cartwright.

She is survived by her three daughters Jennah (Joe) Catlin, Jayden (Michael) Wolcott, and Jordyn Wolcott, their father Morgan Daniel Wolcott III and her granddaughter Elizabeth Louise “Ellie” Catlin whom she loved “so much.” She is also survived by her parents Donald (Marlene) Connelly, and Linda Connelly Scharet, her brothers David (Shelley) Connelly of Warsaw, NY, Daniel (Tina) Connelly of Florida, her nieces McKensie (Steve) Connelly of Warsaw, NY and Taylor (Shane) Causyn of Hilton, NY, Peyton and Parker Cartwright of Warsaw, NY

and her nephews Jonathan and David Connelly of Florida, and her great nephew and niece Mason and Dakota Causyn. Casey leaves behind her beloved dog, Oakley-Beam, rescued to serve as a “cancer support dog” — who was the best companion to her.

As was her nature to give, Casey’s body will be donated to University at Buffalo to help aide in scientific research and hopefully aide in finding a cure for cancer.

A private Catholic mass will be held at the convenience of her family with a private burial to follow. She will be laid to rest next to her sister at Glenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Casey’s wish was for donations to be made in her name and in an act of gratitude to the UMMC Lipson Cancer Center, 330 Monroe Ave, Suite 400, Rochester, NY 14607 or by visiting www.rrhgive.org/giving.

Donations can also be made to the UB Foundation in support of the Anatomical Gift Program.
