Barbara C. Cowie, age 78, of Castile formerly of Perry, passed away on Monday September 2, 2024 at her home under hospice care.
She was born in Warsaw, New York on May 28, 1946, a daughter to the late Charles B. and Grace (Stevens) Chapin.
Barb was a 1964 graduate of Perry Central High School and received her Bachelor’s degree in education from SUNY Brockport.
She was an Elementary teacher for 42 years at Perry Elementary School.
Barb was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry. She enjoyed knitting, doing crossword puzzles, gardening and singing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by 2 sons: Michael (Michelle) Cowie of Tuscaloosa, Al., Matthew (Gretchen) Cowie of Castile, 2 step-sons: Mark (Gail) Cowie of Rochester, Scott (Cheryl) Cowie of Perry, brother: Charles R. (Louise) Chapin of Brighton, 7 grandchildren: Walter, Margaret and Juniper Cowie, Philip James (Kat) Cowie, Allie, Sydney and Tyler Cowie, 2 great grandchildren: Soren and Rheo Cowie, along with several nieces, nephews and friends.
Along with her parents Barb is preceded in death by her husband: Philip S. Cowie who passed away in 2017 and step-son: David Cowie who passed away in 2001.
Family and friends may call from 3-5pm on Friday September 6, 2024 at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home 98 North Main St. in Perry where services will follow at 5pm.
Barb will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
