Alice A. Withey

Alice A. Withey, age 84, of Piffard, passed away on Monday December 30, 2024 at her home.

She was born in Yale, Michigan on October 28, 1940, a daughter to the late Rev. Horace N. and Grace M. (Rowley) Freeman.

Alice was a graduate of Crystal Falls High School in Crystal Falls, Michigan, and received her teaching degree from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky She was a school teacher working in a one room school house in rural Michigan prior to raising her family.

She attended the Grace and Truth Christian Fellowship Church in Mt. Morris. She loved to play piano and sing. She played piano for many years for a former church she attended. She also enjoyed cooking and loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband: Duane “Dale” whom she married on June 9, 1962, 2 daughters: Bethany (Scott) Butler of Perry, Amy (Ted) McLean of Caledon, Ontario Canada, 2 sons: Bryan (Therese) Withey of Statesville, NC, Justin (Ashley) Withey of Lynchburg, VA., 2 sisters: Eunice (Philip) Baldwin of Grand Blanc, MI, Georgina (Paul) Botka of Sanford, MI., sister-in-law: Betty Freeman of Bay City, MI 11 grandchildren: Samuel Withey, Christian (Devon) Butler, Zane Butler, Flurrin Sappowith, Caleb McLean, Joshua McLean, Sarah McLean, Sophia “Rae” George, Zoe Withey, Judah Withey and Esme Withey, 2 great grandchildren: Julian and Simon Butler, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends.

Along with her parents, Alice is preceded in death by a daughter: Desirae Withey who passed away in 2016 and a brother: Gordon who passed away in 2020.

Family and friends may call from noon to 1pm on Monday January 6th at the Grace and Truth Christian Fellowship Church 3462 East Groveland Road Mt. Morris, New York where a service will follow at 1pm.

Alice will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
