Leon C. Patrick, age 85 of Perry, NY passed away on Friday September 28, 2018 at Eastside Nursing Home in Warsaw where he had been residing. He was born in Warsaw, NY on January 27, 1933 a son to the late Leon and Delora (Arnold) Patrick. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a brother-in-law; David Hellerman.
Leon was a graduate of Perry High School class of 1951. He served with the US Marines during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated the former Patrick Keystone in Perry in the early 1970’s then he later was employed as a truck driver for the former Archway Cookie Co. in Perry retiring in 1997. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry where he was involved in the church choir, taught Sunday school and was the church custodian. He was also a member of the Perry Kiwanis Club, McKelton Post #350 of the American Legion in Perry and the former Perry Area Jr. Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed gardening, taking walks, riding his bicycle and cross country skiing.
He is survived by his wife; Joy (Humberstone) Patrick whom he married on February 16, 1957; a daughter Karen (Timothy) McCabe of Canton, GA.; 2 sons Kevin (Elaine) Patrick of Avon, Andrew (Anslie) Patrick of Columbia, SC.; sister Sandy Hellerman of Afton, VA.; brother Merritt (Loretta) Patrick of Mt. Morris; 11 grandchildren Megan Patrick, Adam (Kathryn) Patrick, Jillian Patrick, Morgan (Neil) Skinner, Kirsten (James) Troiano, Madison McCabe, Joel, Hannah, Emma, Alexander and Vlademir Patrick; 1 great granddaughter Henley Joy Skinner, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Leon’s life will be held on Saturday November 24, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church 35 Covington St. in Perry at 11:00AM. He will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
