Joseph C Muscarella, age 96 of Mt. Morris, New York, died peacefully on January 14, 2024.
A World War II veteran, Joe was born on July 30, 1927, to Gandolfo and Josephine (La Barbera) Muscarella. On April 19, 1952, he married Rose Argenna, and in 1957, Joe built their home where they would spend their lives together raising their children and grandchildren.
Before retiring to be a full-time grandfather, he was employed as a foreman with Potter DeWitt for 23 years then as superintendent of public works for the Village of Mt. Morris for the next 20 years. Committed to making his community a better place, he was a proud Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Most important to Joe was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose; devoted children Joe (Lynn) Muscarella and Joan (Chuck) Fowler; cherished grandchildren Kristin, Stephen (Joy), Megan, and Matthew; cherished great-grandchildren Sawyer, Stephanie, and Louis; sister Connie Leone; and many dear family members and friends. Joe’s family always came first and there was no task he couldn’t and wouldn’t handle for any one of them.
Predeceased by his parents and siblings Laura, Charles, Pat, and Sam.
Joe had deep pride, love, and compassion for his family, friends, and community. He will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
No prior calling hours. Private interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery with military honors. Memorials can be made to Mt. Morris Ambulance, St. Patrick’s Cemetery, or a charity of your choice.
Special thanks to Karen Brandes for the wonderful and loving care she gave him.
